The Presidential Press and Information Office's Department of Accreditation and Briefings is now taking accreditation requests to cover events marking the 64th anniversary of Victory in the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War.

Requests must include:
For Russian media: Surname, name and patronymic in full; name of the media outlet; job title; passport details (passport number, date and place of birth).

For foreign media: Surname, name and patronymic in full (in Roman and Cyrillic letters); name of the media outlet; job title; passport details (passport number, date and place of birth), Russian Foreign Ministry accreditation number.

INCOMPLETE REQUESTS WILL NOT BE EXAMINED!

Russia is celebrating the Defenders of the Motherland Day.
Dmitry Medvedev laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by the Kremlin walls.

Earlier, at a celebration event at the Russian Army Theatre, the President congratulated the Russian Armed Forces’ military and civilian personnel on the holiday and wished them good health, prosperity and success.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev made changes to the law “On Immortalizing the Soviet People's Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945.”

The federal law signed by the President makes changes regarding the location of the Victory Day military parades, the weapons and military equipment used, as well as the occurrence of artillery salutes.

According to the law these events will be carried out using copies of the official symbol of Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War – Victory banners in Moscow, Russia's capital, in the cities-heroes, in the cities where the headquarters of military commands, fleets, general armies and the Caspian flotilla are deployed.
